Robin Medium: Ink wash on Arches hotpress watercolor paper. I use a very dilute mixture of water and India ink to achieve this effect. Because India ink is waterproof, once each each layer is dry, it cannot be altered. The painting is built up using very pale layers until the desired saturation is achieved. Because the ink-water solution is so dilute, the resulting tones are subtle and smokey. ©1996, Karen Ackoff. |
